Little Baker

Yesterday was a baking day. Not the crazy bake for 6 hours all kinds of holiday cookies baking day, but just something we've not had before, something different just because day.
And, my daughter, at 12 years old is an awesome baker.
A little over a year ago, she started making cookies on her own. I didn't help one bit. She has always been interested in helping out in the kitchen, and asked if she could try it in her own. I thought, "why not?". Ok, so it might not have been that smooth a transition. I am more of a worry wart, and my husband is more of the "let them try" type. I fretted a bit, and finally decided that this could actually work to our advantage. ;-) Cookies and desserts a couple times a week? That I didn't have to make, but yet it's still home made? Ok! So, off she went on her own and made some chocolate chip cookies, and I must say, they were de-lish! She was proud as a peacock, as she should have been, and she has been baking ever since. Cupcakes, breads, cookies, brownies, etc.
Yesterday was a Double Chocolate Whoopie Pie day. She got an awesome cookbook for Christmas from my sister and family, and it's got the cutest and yummiest looking desserts in it.
Take a look at the cover. Isn't that the cutest?

And here is the finished product that she made.

Don't those look devine?
I might be a slight bit biased, but I can see her now on the cooking network shows. :-)
Enjoy your day,

Craft room envy

I have been sitting downstairs in my MESSY craft room wishing it was miraculously clean and beautiful. I tend to be a messy crafter and also tend to do many crafts at once, instead of cleaning up one and then starting another. I should be cleaning. I have a little. Not nearly enough. Wanted some inspirations so I went on Pinterest. lol
I found some beautiful rooms and thought I'd share.

Enjoy your day,

Cute Jackets

I was out shopping yesterday and saw this super cute jacket at Kohls. It had cute ruffles on the edges of the sleeves and down the front, and the back is just to die for!
They had other colors in a little different style, but they were all just too cute. Thought I 'd share. :-)

How fortunate I am

Each year I love to get my kids a new ornament. My mom started the idea when they were born and I've ran with it! This year I think this is what I will be making for them.
I found this cute idea on Pinterest. (Of course!!) :-)
Here is the link I found it on, which you can find here.
My directions are super similar to her's.
I used a piece of cotton and flannel. Although it seems a little floppy. Might be better if you used flannel and felt. Cut two circles out, one from each fabric.

Layer them on top of each other, right sides out. Stitch all the way around the edge. I used the width of my presser foot for the measurement.

Trim with pinking shears careful not to get too close to your stitching.
Fold in half like a taco, with the fabric print you want facing out in the finished product, folded in.
Stitch about an inch or so in the middle, not going all the way to the edges.
Start turning inside out. Hard to explain, but once you start turning it, you'll get the idea of what it needs to look like.

Add a ribbon of choice so it can hang on your tree. You can even add a message inside if you so desire.
 Enjoy your day,
